D Black Consulting, LLC was founded by Dustin Black, a construction management executive with 17+ years of experience spanning both sides of the table. Dustin grew up in a small town, where he learned firsthand how community-driven decisions get made — a foundation that shapes how he works with school boards and superintendents today. School districts aren't corporate clients. They're communities investing in their kids, and Dustin speaks that language naturally.
His career began on the general contractor side, managing K-12 projects from the ground up — first in Dallas with Cadence McShane Construction, then across West Texas with Lee Lewis Construction. That hands-on building experience, from $60 million school programs in Plano ISD to ground-up campuses in rural communities, provides an operational understanding of construction that most consultants simply don't have. In Colorado, six years with Nunn Construction deepened that foundation — building for Academy District 20 and delivering school projects across the Arkansas River Valley and Pueblo.
As former Regional Vice President for an owner's representative firm in Colorado, Dustin led a team of five project managers. His portfolio includes programs for Falcon School District 49, Cañon City Schools, Pueblo County, and Atlas Preparatory.
That combination is rare: small-town roots with big-city execution. A Navy veteran and two-time Texas Tech graduate, Dustin brings discipline, accountability, and a commitment to protecting your district's investment from bond passage through warranty close-out.
